To delineate is to draw, to define, to draft, and to describe.
Delineations is a site specific light installation developed for the Learning Modern exhibition at Sullivan Galleries which was on view from September 26, 2009 to January 9, 2010.
Delineations was conceived and created in collaboration with artist Jan Tichy. The project comprises of 5 digitally projected, black and white, video animations that precisely inscribe a narrative of moving patterns over the existing walls, floors and ceilings of the gallery. Specially created transparent acrylic walls, L-shaped shelf-like elements and a large cast acrylic rod distort the projections creating complex overlays of light and color. Delineations re-visits the experimental light work of Lazlo Moholy Nagy.
Sullivan Galleries is a vast open exhibition space carved out of an architectural landmark, Louis Sullivan’s former Carson Pirie Scott department store, located in the heart of the Chicago Loop.
