Deceptive Design: Experiments in Furniture was an exhibition developed for the Chicago Cultural Center’s Michigan Avenue Galleries. The exhibition ran from October 10, 2008 through January 4, 2009.

The project was organized by the Chicago Furniture Design Association (CFDA) and the Chicago Chapter of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), in conjunction with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. This juried exhibition featured prototype furniture, furnishings and functional objects that challenge convention through elements of visual, material, mechanical, or functional deception. The usually hidden processes of the designers was presented though wall based posters and graphics.
